Since lavera has been in existence, only one thing counts for us: to produce genuine natural cosmetics. The standard for this is the most stringent possible: we orientate ourselves on the guidelines for controlled natural cosmetics defined by the association BDIH (Federal Association of German Industry and Trade for medicines, reform goods, food auxiliary means and hygiene). lavera products are tested and certified by the independent institute IMO Control (institute for market ecology). The lavera skin care, body care and colour cosmetic products are, without exception, developed and manufactured in accordance with these guidelines. For the hair care products, we use nature-near raw materials that optimally combine effectiveness and naturalness. All our raw materials are from certified organic agriculture and have been certified by the INAC GmbH (In der Kämmersliethe 1, D-37213 Witzenhausen) in accordance with the stringent cultivation guidelines for organic products.

As the first natural cosmetic manufacturer, the laverana GmbH offered with lavera “Neutral” a comprehensive allergy-skin care range. Our skin care range “Baby & Child Neutral” is especially designed for babies and children prone to allergies and for extremely sensitive skin. Tested on human volunteers with sensitive skin confirms the optimal compatibility of our products.

It is important to us that we offer genuine natural products with proven effectiveness. That is why we use for example, plant-based liposomes for measurable repair effect and hyaluronic acid for a noticeable enrichment of moisture in the skin.

In 1987 after more than 10 years research and cosmetic development, I founded my own company on a small estate near Hanover: laverana GmbH was born. Today, with around 100 employees in our own buildings on the outskirts of the beautiful Deister mountains we produce genuine pure natural cosmetics.

Natural cosmetics that you know under the brand name lavera – a name carefully chosen for its meaning: In Latin lavera means“the truth” , a lovely translation that for us is a dedication to both philosophy and commitment.

We use raw plant materials, as much as is possible from certified organic agriculture, our products are 100% free from synthetic perfumes, colourants and preservatives. And of course, we ensure skin compatibility exclusively through tests with volunteers, in collaboration with skin specialists and allergists.

Our often awarded product innovations prove that the original totally nature-based notion and new modern ideas can be combined. And more than 130 awards and recommendations from ÖKO-TEST (the critical German testing magazine) show the same.

Hello, I am Thomas Haase,

Allow me to briefly explain why natural cosmetics from lavera came into being – and what is special about them. The story of lavera is also my story and it has both a simple as well as a personal background: since I was two years old I have suffered from neurodermatitis. Back then this skin disorder was not well known. The conventional cosmetics and medicinal creams did not help me. That is why, even in my youth, I began to have a good look at alternative skin-care possibilities. I later opened one of the first organic natural food shops in Germany with friends. Like many others, we also wanted to live a healthy lifestyle.

And of course we were (and still are today!) motivated by awareness of chemicals, pesticides and large industry. During this time I began to cultivate my own plants, and develop formulations for natural cosmetics that might help my skin.

In summer 1975 I was ready: my first lip balm stick withstood the personal “stress-test” - the protection of my over-sensitive skin during summer holidays in Denmark. I will never forget its formula of wool wax, beeswax and olive oil.
